Somerset Co., PA (WJAC) — Authorities in Somerset County say three individuals are facing various theft-related charges after they allegedly scammed multiple trucking companies out of thousands of dollars.
Police say the companies were attempting to purchase trucks from M & K Truck Centers in Somerset.
Investigators say one of the individuals, 35-year-old Robert Croyle-Rummel, of Windber, was reportedly employed as a salesman for the business.
According to the affidavit, troopers say Croyle-Rummel would allegedly instruct the companies to route their payment/deposit to one of two bank accounts, which reportedly belonged to his two accomplices, 31-year-old Matthew Weaver and 32-year-old Ashley Yourich, both of Johnstown.
Troopers say, in total, the trio scammed the would-be customers of over $14,000.
Investigators say the owner of M & K Truck Centers was unaware of the scam until he was contacted by one of the trucking companies to report that they had not yet received the truck they had purchased.
All three individuals were arraigned this week on charges of theft, corrupt organizations and criminal use of a communication device.
They have all since be released on unsecured bail.
