Centre Co., PA (WJAC) — State College Borough police say a 70-year-old resident was killed Monday afternoon after their bicycle collided with a vehicle along the 3500 block of South Atherton Street.
Investigators say the bicyclist was reportedly traveling northbound, along one of the bike paths, when the rider reportedly left the path and traveled onto the roadway.
Police say the bicyclist was ejected in the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities say the driver of the vehicle was not injured in the crash and drugs and alcohol are not believed to be factors in the accident.
Officials note that the crash prompted the closure of South Atherton Street for approximately three hours.
Police have not yet released the identity of the crash victim and the incident remains under investigation.

911 officials in Centre County confirmed that police are investigating a vehicle versus bicycle crash that occurred Monday afternoon in College Township.
Authorities say the crash occurred around noon along the 3500 block of South Atherton Street near State College.
